Martin BarracloughMartin Barraclough is a grandson of Thomas Barraclough and a nephew of Henry and Willie Barraclough.He joined Silver Line in 1959 and was a director of the company and it's parent, Dene Shipping from 1962 to 1973.
He was Joint Managing Director of Silver Line and Managing Director of Silver Chemical Tankers from 1964 to 1973 and became Chairman and Managing Director of Seabridge Shipping Services from 1973 to 1975.
In 1975 he formed Sealion Shipping and Seamartin Shipping to own and operate chemical tankers and off-shore supply vessels. He was Chairman and Managing Director of Sealion until 1989 and of Seamartin until 1996. He also formed Seamartin Shipping and Aviation Services in 1990 which he traded until retirement in 2003.
He was a director of several UK and overseas shipping companies, a member of the Baltic Exchange and the General Committee of Lloyds Register of Shipping. He remains a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights and a Liveryman of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators of the City of London. He is an active aviator.
He published privately his aviation memoirs "Fifty Years Have Flown" in 2004 and a collection of favourite poetry, "Remembered Verse", in 2007. He lives in Hampshire and is married with two sons.
